I got to hang out with my lovely ladies, Rhiannan and Mindy as well as the other amazing girls, Katrina, Cathy, Robin, Heather and Dawn. It was just awesome! <br/> <br/> We went over gels, acrylics, Mani Q you name it. Mindy is my girl! She did three 3D nails; penguin, reindeer, and santa. She did candy cane stripes, christmas trees, snowflakes, oh my gosh lots! AND, the very last photo shows the before photos of a hand of our awesome model, we used the cover pink on her and you would never know her nails aren't flawless! <3 YN! <br/> <br/> I'm torturing myself with Dooney & Bourke (HSN) and so badly want 3 bags... This coming week I have a Young Nails class, followed by getting ready to go home to San Francisco then I'll be packin up to head to Long Beach. The 7th is my anniversary, the 11th is my birthday, the 14th is Valentine's Day and the 15th is my graduation from Empire! I had it colored 4B (Goldwell) and it was a big dark chocolate-espresso brown. <br/> <br/> Yesterday was 1950's/PinUp day. I loved it! I changed my costume twice, cuz I'm just that cool. My hair was in big victory rolls. So i gotta say, im very happy im putting in the effort to get them to like me again. Another note, i announced that we're going up to Cottonwood/Camp Verde for Thanksgiving to spend it with my hubby's entire family. Well this pretty little thing completely came out of left field! A couple of months ago were had to do a trend color, knowing that later we were to do a trend cut. Well here's my final trend cut & color. I love it! I actually love it so much I have been really contemplating doing something crazy with my hair, my way, of course. I have an idea in mind, I just gotta find the right photo. I'm hoping by Monday I'll have my tech sheet done and can convince Ms. Lorri to do the cut on me. <br/> <br/> But, this cut i parted the hair in the back, crown down into a ponytail and used my razor to cut it off (my doll lost about 5-6 inches of length. Then I thinned the bulk of the back out so it could either lay against the head or do a chunky spike. The front left bang I over directed and razored it into a "v" and tapered the sides of the v to make it lay perfectly. For the front right side I wanted an anime appeal by keeping the length, highlighting my pink elumen color. For the crown, I put it into a ponytail, overdirected it forward, and sliced it with my razor. Viola! That's the cut. <br/> <br/> The color was all Goldwell Elumen (yes, even the brown!) At the crown, and maybe a finger forward, I sectioned a backwards triangle. I lightened it to a level 8 then deposited the pink. For the bangs, I sliced 6 (3 on each side) pieces, lighted and did a pink to blue fade, pulling the center colors together to create a purple. I know, its almost over but hey, give a girl a break! This week starts a new cirriculum (design essentials aka perms), new tech sheets (to practice technical abilities) and new students. With these new beginings I'm starting new goals; ace this module, finish my tech sheet by Friday and try to introduce myself to the new students. Nope, I haven't lost my mind, I just feel totally motivated to stick with my 2010 goals. <br/> <br/> When i first started at Empire I simplified my life; dont stay a push-over, become independent, kick arse at what i do and to live my own life. I dunno if you've noticed, but I feel like I had lost my my way somewhere. I was over-stressed, under appreciated and totally out of my mind. <br/> <br/> To return to the Classic of 2010, i have reset my goals and schedule. (Kind of an early New Year's Resolution.) But this time I'm gonna be strict and realistic on my goals: exercise, perfect my talents, and be nice without being taken advantage of. Sounds simple enough... <br/> <br/> Just like my Kinetix challenge, I have disected every hour of my day and will stick to it 100%. I have to, my future and sanity definately rely on it. This evening I reveiwed my business plans, marketing strategies and health guidelines. (Which, will be ran off 7 hours of sleep a night; 11pm-6am) <br/> <br/> I won't bore you with the craziness of the actual schedule, but I hope that writing it down, publishing it and announcing my dedication with help me strive further so that i may reach my newly set goals. <br/> <br/> Common people, I have a 10 year plan! You gotta be organized to achieve it, I think. Wish me luck. It only takes 21 days to make a habit. I have chosen that I would like to keep my lungs happy and healthy so while I do enjoy the company of most in this school, I just cannot justify being around all that smoke. <br/> <br/> A nice update, on how school is going, I may actually be enjoying haircutting (shhhh, dont tell anyone) I have taken a month off nails to complete my graduation requirements for hair and the infamous Chris has officially been kicked out of my senior class. Now we're here at the airport so i thought i would show you a shot or two of my nails from this week... <br/> <br/> I finished lots of nails, one was candy corn but the clear wasnt clear, it was natural! Ugh! So one nail was clear coated the other natural, kinda foggy. Then i had some photos of Kinze's nails that were black purple fade with swarovski crystals inbedded, with pink crystaled white spiders. Very neat. <br/> <br/> This Monday Linda and kim graduated, which sucks cuz they were glue for holding the school together. <br/> <br/> I made 150 cake pops, which took way too long! I drove as fast as i could to get from Queen Creek to Chandler in less than half an hour and the pops still almost melted. Grrrr... but i didnt care, to be honest. I put my heart and soul into them. It was the school's responsibility to baby them. (I also personnally carried my own hay into the school, chivalry is dead) <br/> <br/> I dyed my dog pink! I got some color from my hubby's ex-wife (yes, we're getting along!) We got our group together today and pulled off the near impossible, with a pre-saloner! Hoo ray for slow cookers!<br /><br />Ingredients:<br />2 pounds stew beef<br />2 tablespoons vegetable oil<br />2 cups water (or beef broth, like I use!)<br />1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce<br />1 clove garlic, peeled<br />1 or 2 bay leaves<br />1 medium onion, sliced 1 teaspoon salt<br />1 teaspoon sugar 1/2 teaspoon pepper<br />1/2 teaspoon paprika<br />Dash ground allspice or ground cloves<br />3 large carrots, sliced<br />3 ribs celery, chopped<br />2 tablespoons cornstarch<br />2-3 potatoes, thick cubed<br /><br />Directions<br />Brown meat in hot oil, place into slow cooker.<br />Add water/broth, Worcestershire sauce, garlic, bay leaves, onion, salt, sugar, pepper, paprika, allspice, and veggies. Cover and set for low. Before serving remove bay leaf. To thicken gravy, remove 2 cups hot liquid. Using a separate bowl, combine 1/4 cup water and cornstarch until smooth. Mix with a little hot liquid and return mixture to pot. Set the onion quarters/ 8th and squash halves, cut sides up, on a baking sheet and sprinkle with salt and pepper. Drizzle with extra-virgin olive oil, if desired. If squash are very large, cut lengthwise into quarters.<br />Put chopped garlic cloves into squash quarters and bake/roast for 30 minutes. (He honestly asked me, are you making pies for Thursday, cuz I don’t care about the turkey, I just want pies.” Well, I guess that’s a good and bad thing (makes me re-think my turkey!) For Bentos, turn on the oven, pop this is, let it warm up them scoop into bento dish (or if your bentos are cold, just scoop and you’re done) BUT, if you’re like my hubby, he has to have his whipped cream, so I put that in a little cup/sauce container so he can put it on himself) Have I mentioned that he is SPOILED? Yeah, well so is my Maltese and my horses…<br /><br />Ingredients:<br />6 McIntosh apples (or granny smith,), peeled and diced into 1/2-inch pieces<br />1/2 lemon, juiced<br />1 teaspoon ground cinnamon<br />1/2 teaspoon ground or freshly grated nutmeg<br />2 tablespoons granulated sugar<br />1/2 cup flour or fine graham cracker crumbs<br />1/2 cup brown sugar<br />1/2 stick butter<br />1 pint vanilla ice cream<br /><br />Directions<br />Preheat oven to 400 degrees F. In a 9 by 12 baking dish, combine apples, lemon juice, cinnamon, nutmeg and sugar. In a small bowl, mix flour or graham cracker crumbs, brown sugar and butter together using the tines of a fork and your fingers, working until even, small crumbles form. To keep the yogurt from making the granola soggy, you may either keep the granola in a baggie or use a silicone baking cup.<br /><br />Ingredients:<br />Cooking Spray<br />3 cups old-fashioned oats<br />1/2 cup chopped raw, unsalted walnuts<br />1/2 cup chopped unsalted almonds<br />1/2 cup chopped unsalted pecans<br />1/2 cup maple syrup<br />1/4 teaspoon salt<br />1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon<br />1/2 cup raisins, optional<br /><br />Directions<br />Preheat the oven to 300 degrees F. Spray a large baking sheet with cooking spray.<br />In a medium bowl combine the oats, nuts, maple syrup, salt, cinnamon and the raisins, if using. Spread the mixture onto the baking sheet and bake until golden brown, stirring occasionally, about 30 minutes. Transfer the sheet to a cooling rack and let cool completely. I cannot stand them. No, I HATE them. I would rather fight the H1N1 all over again then deal with them. That is how bad is it living with them. I went to go bring the horses in, and of course, my "pride and joy," Riesling, is out of the pasture. She's crafty (just like Napa) so I figure she just got out, but no. The panelling down one side of the pasture was down. And she just, jumped right over it. (Very prettily, I might add) So luckily that wasn't as bad as it could've been.<br /><br />While I went to water the horses, my hubby's mutt of a dog ran up to me to show me his poor injured nose. Well, dumbass, if you try to bit MY horse's leg, your gonna get kicked and you completely deserved it! (His hide was off, nothing serious like a deep wound or anything.)<br /><br />So thats all been before 7:30am. Since my allergies have been absolutelt killing me, I took medicine, and passed out. Well, an hour or so before that I took a long bath and combed my hair with Riesling's conditioner (my quarter horse, she has botanical conditioners, yes spoiled) Well, I was prolly not use to the smell (very nice, just powerful) So I had three back to back nightmares on ghosts, zombies, and randomness. Not so much fun.<br /><br />Then when I actually tried to go to bed after my poker tourney last night(my last hand was at 12:30am and I didn't have it in me to stay. I was dead, so I called all in on nothing) (not bad, I mean out of 7,863 I was 563rd) anyway, I had a dream I was at a commercial shoot for Ford's new commercial with Michael Jackson (ew!) he wore heels... badly. Then it became a concert, but one of those political concerts... yeah. Well, on the way out we got to vote for or against abortion. HAHAHA fun. Well, voted then left. After driving to gosh know where, I end up at some hotel like place with a mini pool (in ground) as the patio... And it was random people from my past, like Elementary and Middle School. (Samuel Mora, Giselle, a few others I cannot remember)<br /><br />Then was awakened by my in-laws turning on the tv loudly (I got up at 4am because I was stuffed up again, and sat on the couch until I basically fell asleep). THEN to pick up another tool my father-in law bought. <br /><br />All in between we (eh hm, I) am planning on taking Bodie to Marine World (Six Flags Discovery Kingdom)withthe family on Friday. Its his birthday and the poor boy hasn't gone to a theme park before! :( Then Bobby and I want to take his parents to the City to taste some REAL seafood. They have never been to SF and that is a crime! I had to put a conrast in because of the wooden crates (it would've been a tan blob without it!) You can see my spinning wheel in the corner near the yarns, etc. Don't worry, she came out later to do her thing. (I love spinning in public!) In the fron right corner you can see my contest box, guestbook, and the forms of payments I accept (along with a mini banner) Speaking of my banner, what do you think?! I love it! If you look to the right of the booth, you will see two straw hay bales... Get this, are you ready?? Seating for the guests! YUP! I put them down with notes saying "take a load off... pop a squat..." and others to that nature. It was over 100 degrees F that day, I wanted to be nice to my customers. I have fiber everywhere in the house now... 1lb of Merino here, a basket of cotton there and silk everywhere! Yes, I now dye and spin my own yarns. My hubby was very nice to buy me my <span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_0">Ashford</span> "Joy" Spinning Wheel. I love it!<br /><br />I spun a pound alone yesterday, and can't stop. One problem, you get kinda sea-sick from doing it too long and when you're not spinning you feel like you just got off a cruise ship.<br /><br />So, along with spinning, I love dying. I have checked many, many "cheap" versions of dying my yarn, and well. I will <span class="blsp-spelling-corrected" id="SPELLING_ERROR_1">vouch</span> for them all. I love 'em. Who really thought you could dye your own yarn and fibers with Wilton Icing colors and/or <span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_2">Kool</span> Aid (Flavor Aide)??!<br /><br />Up next, making my horse's saddle pad! (Dad is building me a loom,) so in a couple weeks, I will have my first blanket to show you!<br /><br />BUT... I have been feeling a little under the weather. At first I thought it was an ear infection, thankfully not! For someone who never had allergies before, the desert kicks your butt! Our citrus orchard has now bloomed its blossoms everywhere and even though it smells lovely, its killing me! Anyway... Here is my version of dying roving/ yarn:<br /><br />You'll need:<br />gloves<br />packets of 'aid (unsweetened!)<br />white vinegar<br />fibers or yarn<br />water<br />microwave (you can use the stove too)<br />plastic wrap<br />big bowl/ casserole dish<br /><br />While I have tried many ways, I like to use the simple "splotchy" way.<br /><br />First, put your fiber into a nice warm bath of tap water, let it soak for 20-30 minutes. Completely submerge it, but don't play with it! I have had one felt on me, its not that fun.<br /><br />While you're waiting for your fibers to soak, make your dye. I usually use one packet of 'aid per ounce of fiber. (I like it bright!) Use a simple measuring cup and put a little warm water in it first so you don't get <span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_3">chunkies</span> on the bottom. Pour in a good glop of vinegar and stir it up.<br /><br />For one color:<br />Using the same bowl, pour your dye mixture into the bowl, cover and zap it for 3 minutes, let rest, then zap it again for another 2 minutes. The water should be clear... keep zapping in 2 minute <span class="blsp-spelling-corrected" id="SPELLING_ERROR_4">increments</span> until it becomes clear. CAREFULLY take out the bowl from the microwave and let it sit and chill. Patience is key with this, if you take it out too early, it might go into a shock and felt. After it has rested, rinse it well, then hang it to dry. (We have an unused shower, so that is now my drying area)<br /><br />For multi colors:<br />Take out the fiber from the bowl and carefully <span class="blsp-spelling-corrected" id="SPELLING_ERROR_5">squeeze</span> out the water. Line the bowl with plastic wrap and place the fibers into the bowl. Take your dye (if you have old condiment containers, this work great! Just fill 'em and squirt!) and paint where you want the colors. Put plastic wrap over the <span class="blsp-spelling-corrected" id="SPELLING_ERROR_6">fiber</span> and zap it for 3 minutes. Keep checking on it, but let it rest in between zaps for a couple minutes. I use 2 minutes each time until the plastic wrap has no color on it.<br /><br />Please be careful and let it cool before handling. It will burn. Just take caution and all will be well.<br /><br />If you dye <span class="blsp-spelling-corrected" id="SPELLING_ERROR_7">anything</span>, take photos and post 'em. I trotted my horse for the first time and... She didn't buck! Success! We are amazing at weaving through the cones, and her jumps (aka pole work) is great. I am so proud of her!<br /><br />The down...<br />Bobby had to work all day today, which meant Bodie had to go with me to my lesson. I don't get it; conversation after conversation he doesn't get what I'm saying. Then, when my hubby gets home, naturally I want "alone time," I said (direct quote!) "Can you leave the room, please? Bodie, can you leave the room please?" I said it for multiple reasons- 1) I really just wanted to be with Bobby and breathe for a minute; 2) If Bodie saw what was on the webpage I was trying to show Bobby he would be depressed because he couldn't come with us tonight.<br />Oh, tonight (today) is my 18 month anniversary with my husband (yup, 07-07-07). He had called me yesterday to plan something for today, and I did, giving him options of course... {I'm sorry... tears get in the way of typing} Anyway, I wanted to show him something we would be doing tonight, which is when I (thought) politely asked Bodie to leave. Apparently I can't do anything right.<br />Bodie had been "blah blah blah" all day, and his damn attitude sucks! (I swear, his whore of a mother doesn't teach him shit- at least as far as any form of manners go). I guess its one of those days where I need to vent. Vent Vent Vent. Yes, my boss, Cara, fired me for a stupid reason. Telling the truth. Now, the truth will set you free, yes, but how? For fear of "Taliban" firing me (anyway), I wanted to make sure me till was 100% dead on. A special customer basically shorted me $2. Yes, $2. I showed the customer I had to take it from tips and put it into my till. WITH A NOTE. The faithful note that ended my long, long-time running career with the coffee demon, Starbucks. (Don't fret, I still love starbucks). I honestly, and openly wrote down my actions, and then... Was "seperated." </div><br /><div align="center">How does one whp knows they are leaving respond...Classy, of course. As I awoke, I dressed myself better than usual, classic Miss Davenport makeup (from Lorac), hair up perfectly, and a beautifully fitting suit coat with the cute puffy sleeves. I wore my embrodered apron with my name on, to further show that even though they think they can break me, I am Classic.</div><br /><div align="center">When I recieved my little sheet of paper, notifying me of my freedom, I smiled, looked at them, "I am not shocked, in fact, everyone already knew." When I walked in, I told them that I was being let go today. They couldn't believe it. But now we all know what kind of tirant she is, and the feel of me being a threat, in that the customers liked me over her, drew her closer to the green-eyed monster. </div><br /><div align="center">Really? When the only thing holding me to my j-o-b was my co-workers; who were already leaving... Showing me the door was opening my world. You poor unfortunate woman, terminating me was a blessing. I have been in the little town of Queen Creek (Arizona desert) for over a year now, and as much as I love it, I really miss home. I miss the ocean, FOOD, places to go, and even the weather. But only for right now, the whole freezing temp during the winter here is crazy. (We don't have a heater that works well either).</div><br /><div>It is very fun out here; horses, husband, horses, hobbies, horses... That's about it. I usually go to work, go to horse training, go to the gym, work on my business (hobbies I sell) and when its here, horse events.</div><br /><div>But what I couldn't give to have my own place. In California I had a cute cabin, with everything I held dear. Out here, my stuff is in an evil storage unit in California and I have nothing to really call my own except my horse(s). I have two that are mine, Napa which is a yearling mustang mix and Riesling which is a very well bred quarter horse. </div><br /><div>Come on girls, you know every girl needs thier own place.
